Hwy 1A Bikeride

A very nice late May day for this new adventure. We started west of Banff, where the 1A (the Bow Valley Parkway) begins, and rode west to Castle Junction. The main attraction was that the road was mostly closed to vehicle traffic, so we didn't have to share it (a few exceptions) with any automobiles. This made for a relaxed and chatty ride. It was 24km to Castle Jct., where we had lunch, and then returned. A highlight on the return trip was a small black bear right beside the road - it didn't seem to bothered by the cyclists, of which there were quite a few enjoying the nice weather. We will definitely have to do this again, given similar conditions.
